Cookie Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains what this website stores in your browser, why, and how you can control it.
In short: we use analytics cookies to see how the site is used, and remember which of our adverts brought you. You can switch either off below. The callback booking form also saves two small items in your browser. If you switch analytics cookies off, we still count your visits anonymously without cookies, and you can switch that off too. The site runs no advertising tools.
What cookies and similar storage are
A cookie is a small text file that a website saves in your browser. Websites use cookies to remember things between pages and visits, for example what you have agreed to.
Browsers can also store information in other ways that do a similar job. The two this policy mentions are “local storage”, which stays until it is deleted, and “session storage”, which is cleared when you close the tab. The same rules apply to all of them, so this policy covers them together.
What this site stores
When you visit, the site saves the analytics and advertising items marked in the table below. You can switch them off at any time under “How to change your choices”, and the site works the same without them.
If you use the callback booking form, it saves two items in your browser’s local storage: one when you send a booking, and one when you pick an address from the address search.
| Name | Set by | Type | What it is for | How long it lasts | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
cx:vid | This website | Local storage | A random ID, created when you send a callback booking. It is sent with that booking, and with any later booking from the same browser, so that we can spot fake or repeated bookings. It holds no name or contact details. | Until you clear this site’s data in your browser | Essential (security) |
cx:addresses:v1 | This website | Local storage | The addresses you have picked in the booking form’s address search, up to 10 of them, each with its postcode, property reference numbers and map position, so the form can fill one in again without looking it up. | 30 days for each address. After that it is no longer used, and it is removed the next time the form saves an address | Functional |
cx:consent | This website | Local storage | Only if you use the switches under “How to change your choices” below: remembers what you switched off, with a random ID that matches our record of your choice. | Until you clear this site’s data in your browser | Essential (remembers your choice) |
cx_analytics_consent | This website | Local storage | Records that analytics cookies are switched on for this browser, so that they start straight away on your next visit. | Until you clear this site’s data in your browser | Essential (remembers your choice) |
ph_<project key>_posthog and ph_<project key>_posthog__flags | PostHog | Cookie and local storage | Analytics. Holds a random visitor ID and details of your visit, so that we can see how the site is used and recognise your next visit. | 1 year | Analytics |
ph_<project key>_window_id and ph_<project key>_primary_window_exists | PostHog | Session storage | Analytics. Tells one browser tab from another during a visit. | Until you close the tab | Analytics |
__ph_opt_in_out_<project key> | PostHog | Local storage | Remembers your analytics choice: whether you agreed to analytics cookies, turned them down, or switched off the counting of your visits. | Until you clear this site’s data in your browser | Essential (remembers your choice) |
cx:no-stats | This website | Local storage | Only if you press “Don’t count my visits” below: remembers that choice, so that nothing is counted from this browser. | Until you clear this site’s data in your browser | Essential (remembers your choice) |
cx:ad | This website | Local storage | If you arrive from one of our adverts, remembers which advert it was and when you clicked it, so that a callback booking you make later still tells us which advert brought you, and our analytics can show which adverts bring visitors. Switching off “Advertising” below deletes it. | 90 days | Advertising |
cx:entry | This website | Session storage | Remembers the first page of this visit and the website that sent you here, so a callback booking you make after looking around tells us how you found us. Switching off “Advertising” below deletes it. | Until you close the tab | Advertising |
cx:tap | This website | Session storage | If you came from one of our adverts and tap to call us, copy our number or open WhatsApp, keeps one reference code for this visit, so several taps count once. Switching off “Advertising” below deletes it. | Until you close the tab; replaced by a new code after 30 minutes without a tap | Advertising |
Analytics
PostHog, our analytics tool, saves the items marked “Analytics” above so that it can recognise your next visit, and it records how you move around the site (scrolling, clicks and taps) so that we can improve it. What you type into forms is hidden from these recordings. It also notes which pages you look at, how long you stay and roughly where you are (your town, region, country and postcode district, worked out by our hosting provider from your IP address).
If you switch analytics cookies off, PostHog counts your visits anonymously instead, without saving anything in your browser. To tell visits apart it uses a code worked out on its servers from your IP address and type of browser, which changes every day, so it cannot follow you from one day to the next or tell who you are. You can switch that off too.
Analytics and advertising cookies
These are switched on when you visit. They are marked “Analytics” or “Advertising” in the table above, and you can switch them off at any time under “How to change your choices” below.
What the categories mean
- Essential: needed for something you have asked the site to do, or to keep it secure. Saved without asking.
- Functional: saves you effort, such as typing an address again. Saved without asking, and only when you use the feature.
- Analytics: helps us see how the site is used. Saved when you visit; you can switch it off below.
- Advertising: helps us measure our adverts and how you found us. Saved when you visit; you can switch it off below.
How to change your choices
To switch analytics cookies or advertising off on this browser:
To stop the counting of your visits altogether, even without cookies:
Your visits are counted anonymously, without cookies.
You can delete what this site has saved at any time in your browser’s settings. Look for “cookies” or “site data”. The booking form still works afterwards: if you book again, it simply creates a new ID.
You can also set your browser to block cookies and site storage altogether. The site will still work. So will the booking form, but it will not remember your address.
Other companies’ websites
The site’s typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. This does not set a cookie, but your browser does contact Google to fetch them. Our Privacy Policy explains what Google receives.
Links on this site to other companies’ websites and apps, such as WhatsApp and the review sites, take you to services that set their own cookies under their own policies.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page before we change what the site stores in your browser. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
