Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains what personal information Construct X Ltd collects through this website, what we use it for, who we share it with and the rights you have over it.
In short: the only information we ask you for is what you type into the callback booking form. We use it to call you and to deal with your enquiry, never for marketing.
Who we are
This website is run by Construct X Ltd. On the site we call ourselves Construct X Group. We are a company registered in England and Wales, company number 14856704. Our registered office is 31 Boleyn Avenue, Enfield EN1 4HR.
Under data protection law we are the “controller” of the information described in this policy. That means we decide how and why it is used, and we are responsible for looking after it.
To ask a question about this policy, or to use any of your rights, contact us:
- Email: info@constructxgroup.co.uk
- Phone: 0345 548 6355

What we collect and why
For each kind of information, this section says what it is, what we use it for and the legal ground (the “lawful basis”) we rely on.
When you book a callback
The booking form asks for:
- your first name
- your phone number
- the postcode of the property, or its address if you pick it from the list
- your email address, which is optional
- whether you want a WhatsApp call or an ordinary phone call
- the day and time you want us to call
We also give each booking a short reference code.
What we use it for: to call you at the time you chose, to prepare for that call, to send you a booking confirmation if you gave an email address, and to deal with your enquiry afterwards. We do not use it for marketing.
Lawful basis: you have asked us to call you about possible building work, so we use these details to take steps at your request before entering into a contract. Where that does not apply, we rely on our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us.
Security information recorded with a booking
When you send a booking, we record some technical details with it:
- your IP address, and the approximate location our hosting provider works out from it (town or city, region, country, approximate coordinates and time zone)
- details of your browser and device: browser type and version, language, time zone, screen size, operating system and whether the screen is a touch screen
- a random ID that the form saves in your browser, so that bookings sent from the same browser can be linked (see our Cookie Policy)
- how long the booking form was open before you sent it
- the visitor and session IDs from our analytics tool, if it is running in your browser
What we use it for: to keep the booking system secure, and to spot and deal with fake or abusive bookings.
Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in protecting the booking system and our director’s diary from misuse.
How you found us
With a booking we also record:
- which page you booked from, and which button opened the form
- the first page you opened on this visit (its web address, including any campaign or advert reference in it) and the website that sent you to it, if your browser shares it. Your browser remembers these until you close the tab, unless you switch “Advertising” off on our Cookie Policy page; otherwise we record the page you booked from and the website that led you to it
- if you came from one of our adverts, which advert it was and when you clicked it, even if you book on a later visit. Your browser remembers this for up to 90 days unless you switch “Advertising” off on our Cookie Policy page
What we use it for: to understand which pages and adverts lead people to get in touch.
Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in knowing how our website and advertising are performing.
When you call, message or email us
If you ring us, send us a WhatsApp message or email us, we receive your number or email address and whatever you choose to tell us. We use it to reply and to deal with your enquiry. The lawful basis is the same as for a callback.
WhatsApp is owned by Meta. If you message us on WhatsApp, or ask for your callback as a WhatsApp call, WhatsApp handles that message or call under its own privacy policy.
If you came to our site from one of our adverts (on this visit, or on an earlier one in the last 90 days), and you tap to call us, copy our number or open WhatsApp, we note the time, the page and button, whether you are on a phone or a computer, and that advert (including the advert's click reference). Your browser keeps one reference code for the visit, so several taps count once. When WhatsApp opens from our button, we add that code, like "Ref CX-4KQ7P", to the end of your message (not when you scan our QR code). You can delete the code before you send it. The note of your tap does not include your number, name, IP address or location. If analytics is on, the code is also attached to your visit in our analytics, so once we match your enquiry we can see how you used our site. If you then call or message us, we may match your enquiry to that advert by the time of your call or by the code, and tell the advertiser that the advert worked, using only its click reference. We delete taps that do not lead to an enquiry after 90 days. You can stop this by switching “Advertising” off on our Cookie Policy page.
What we use it for: to know which adverts lead people to call or message us. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in knowing how our advertising performs. You can object at any time.
When you visit the site
Like almost every website, ours is delivered by servers that record technical details of each request: your IP address, the page requested, the date and time, and the type of browser. Our hosting provider keeps these in its server logs.
The typefaces on this site are loaded from Google Fonts. To fetch them your browser contacts Google’s servers, so Google receives your IP address and the type of browser you use. This does not set a cookie.
What we use it for: to deliver the site to you, keep it secure and find faults.
Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in running a working, secure website.
Analytics and advertising
PostHog, our analytics tool, sets cookies so that it can recognise your browser on later visits, and records how you move around the site (scrolling, clicks and taps) so that we can improve it. What you type into forms is hidden from these recordings. If you arrive from one of our adverts, your browser also remembers which one, so that a booking you make later is credited to it and our analytics can show which adverts bring visitors. You can switch these off at any time on our Cookie Policy page, which lists each one.
Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how our website is used, so that we can improve it, and in knowing which of our adverts work. You can object at any time by switching them off.
If you use those switches, we keep a record of your choice: a random ID, what you switched off, when and the page you were on. It does not include your IP address or anything else that identifies you.
Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in being able to show that we respected your choice.
If you switch analytics cookies off, PostHog counts your visit anonymously without saving anything in your browser: the pages you view, what you click, how far you scroll and how long you stay, along with your type of device and browser and roughly where you are: the town, region, country and postcode district (the first half of a postcode, such as SE22) your internet connection appears to be in, and the council area that district mostly falls in. Our hosting provider Vercel works these out from your IP address, so they are often only approximate. It tells visits apart with a code worked out from your IP address and browser that changes every day, and it does not keep your IP address. You can switch this off on our Cookie Policy page.
Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in understanding how our website is used so that we can improve it.
Reviews shown on the site
The customer reviews on this site are copied from public reviews left on Google, Trustpilot and Houzz. Each one shows the name its author published there. If a review is yours and you would like it taken off our site, tell us and we will remove it.
Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in showing what customers have said about our work.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing.
We use the companies below to run the website and the booking system. The list says what each one receives.
- Vercel (United States) hosts the website and runs the booking form. Everything you send through the form passes through its servers.
- Vercel also works out the approximate town, region, country and postcode district of each visit from its IP address, for our analytics. Only those are passed on, never a full postcode.
- Google (United States) provides the calendar our director uses. Each booking is saved in it as a diary entry holding your name, phone number, postcode or address, booking reference and the security information listed above. Google also serves the site’s typefaces.
- Airtable (United States) is the database where we keep a record of each booking and of taps on our call and WhatsApp buttons from advert visitors. For a booking: what you typed into the form, your IP address and how you found us. After we speak, we add our own notes to it: how the call went, where your enquiry stands and, if you go ahead, the value of the contract. It also holds the record of choices made with the cookie switches.
- Resend (United States) sends our emails: the alert that tells us a booking has been made, which contains what you typed into the form, how you found us and the security information listed above, and the booking confirmation sent to you if you gave an email address.
- Ideal Postcodes (United Kingdom) provides the address search in the booking form. It receives what you type into the address box, sent from our server. It does not receive your name, phone number or email address.
- PostHog provides our analytics. It receives the pages you view, what you click and the approximate area of your visit (town, region, country, postcode district and council area), recognises your browser on later visits and records how you move around the site, unless you switch analytics cookies off, when it counts your visits anonymously without cookies instead. It stores the information in the European Union.
- The web developer who builds and maintains this website for us can see the booking records, in order to run the system and fix faults.
If you choose a WhatsApp call, or message us on WhatsApp, your number and your messages are also handled by WhatsApp.
We may also share information with our professional advisers and insurers when we need to, and with the police, a court or a regulator when the law requires it.
Sending information outside the UK
Most of the companies listed above are based in the United States, and some store information in other countries as well. Your information is therefore likely to be held outside the UK.
When that happens it is protected by one of the safeguards UK data protection law allows. Depending on the company, that is either a UK government decision that the destination gives adequate protection, which for the United States covers companies certified under the UK extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, or contract terms approved for transfers from the UK.
Contact us if you would like to know which safeguard applies to a particular company.
How long we keep it
We keep the details of a callback for as long as we are dealing with your enquiry, and for a limited time afterwards in case you come back to us or a question comes up about the booking. After that we delete them.
If your enquiry leads to building work, the details become part of the records of that project. We keep those for as long as we need them for the contract, for tax and legal reasons, and to deal with any claim.
Server logs are kept by our hosting provider for a short period that it sets.
What the booking form saves in your own browser is covered in our Cookie Policy. You can delete it yourself at any time.
You can ask us to delete your details sooner. See “Your rights” below.
Your rights
Data protection law gives you rights over your information. You can ask us:
- for a copy of the information we hold about you
- to correct anything that is wrong or out of date
- to delete it
- to stop using it, or to limit how we use it
- to give you the details you gave us in a form you can pass to another company
You can also object to any use that relies on our legitimate interests, and you can withdraw a consent you have given at any time.
These rights have limits. In some cases the law allows us, or requires us, to keep information, and we will tell you if that applies.
To use a right, email info@constructxgroup.co.uk or call 0345 548 6355. It is free. We will reply within one month. We may need to ask you to confirm who you are before we act.
Do you have to give us your information?
No. No law or contract requires you to give us anything. But to book a callback we need your first name, a phone number and the postcode of the property. Without them we cannot call you or prepare for the call. Your email address is optional.
If you would rather not use the form, you can ring us on 0345 548 6355.
Automated decisions
We do not use your information to make decisions about you by automated means alone, and we do not use it for profiling.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first, using the contact details at the top of this policy. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and tell you the outcome.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator:
- Online: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint
- Helpline: 0303 123 1113
Changes to this policy
We will update this page whenever what we collect, or how we use it, changes. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
